My Mail Table

This was my first new furniture project as a student. I use it as a mail table in my office.

This was my introduction to milling lumber(red oak) with joiner and planer so I’ve included a photo of the milled parts. It was also my first attempt at mortise and tenon joinery. A router was used to create the mortise and a table saw for the tenons.

The design flaw is that the table top lays *inside* the table. As the temp and humidy changes the top expanded and pushed the joints apart. This august I will take the top out make it smaller to avoid this from happening again.
